Site Reliability Engineer

PayJunction is seeking a site reliability engineer to support the infrastructure and services that make PayJunction the leading developer of paperless payment software. As a valued member of our small but mighty engineering team, you will ensure our systems are healthy, automated and designed to scale.

The ideal candidate for this role eats, breathes and sleeps automation, always has security in mind, and can implement best practices to further our mission. The role is meant for a DevOps rockstar who can triage and prioritize when necessary, has a strong sense of responsibility and ownership, and can tackle a problem to completion. We are looking for a Puppet expert to take our automation initiatives to the next level. We take testing seriously, and believe in an effective and efficient engineering approach that reduces bugs and stress. We have exceedingly high expectations for this role, but will pay a premium salary to the talented individual who meets them.

This is a full-time, in house position at our headquarters in Santa Barbara, CA.

The must-haves:

  • Outstanding Puppet and Ansible skills and a fundamental desire to automate everything
  • Background in programming and strong coding skills (i.e. desire and ability to write quality code)
  • Experience working with Mac workstations, OS X in a corporate setting (Profile Management, MCX Records) and JAMF
  • Experience supporting Linux systems (Specifically, Ubuntu. Package updates, backup, DB maintenance)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science highly preferred

 

You should also be comfortable with:

Development

  • Jenkins, VM's, continuous integration and one-step deployments
  • Git as a version control system

Networking

  • Router / Firewall configurations (ScreenOS, Junos, Cisco)
  • BGP Routing, VPN, DNS, Radius, DAI, load balancing, tcpdump

Server administration

  • Bash, LDAP, Basic MySQL, Apache, SSL, SNMP, Nagios, Splunk, OSSEC

Security

  • Internal penetration experience (IPS, SSL Scan, OpenVas, Ettercap, Injection, XSS, CSRF, on and on, bring your White Hat skills)

 

Bonus points for:

  • Direct experience maintaining PCI Compliance
