Human Resources Business Partner

PayJunction is currently seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented human resources business partner to join our growing organization.  As a member of our HR team you will work directly with the Director of HR to manage human resource functions across select business units.  The ideal candidate will have 1 - 4 years of HR experience and be and be looking to use the skills they have and continue to learn and grow. You must be ready to dive in and interface with employees and management to: promote our positive company culture, identify, recruit and retain talent, and provide overall support to the HR team.

This position is located on site in our Santa Barbara, California offices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel:
    • Coordinate, represent and participate in various recruitment events 
    • Develop recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing needs
    • Meet with managers to develop specific recruiting plans
    • Write and place advertisements
    • Identify and recruit qualified candidates 
  • Administer hiring activities including:
    • Pre-screen potential candidates
    • Schedule and participate in the interviewing process
    • Conduct pre-employment tests
    • Run new-employee orientation
    • Perform background and reference checks
  • In addition to new hires, process terminations, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence and existing employee changes
  • Advise and assist employees on interpretation and assist managers on the administration of human resource policies
  • Maintain human resource information system records, and compile reports from the database
  • Coordinate and plan internal team building and company events
  • Continue to promote our strong company culture internally and externally
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and practices
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned 

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field; psychology, business, sociology
  • At least one year in a similar HR role
  • Experience in successfully recruiting qualified candidates for all levels within an organization, including technical positions
  • Working knowledge and understanding of employment and recruiting laws
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in a company
  • Must be patient, tactful, diplomatic, and approachable 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Respectful of confidentiality and its importance, as you will be dealing with personnel files
  • Ability to stay calm in difficult situations
  • Prior knowledge of HRIS systems and/or recruiting software (bonus points for familiarity with Namely and Jazz software)
  • Familiarity with SaaS companies a plus.
