We are seeking a Card Compliance Manager to ensure Compliance with all Card Brand Rules and legal regulations and provide legal contract support for PayJunction. This role will also serve the function of a Corporate Paralegal. Our team takes compliance with Card Brand rules, laws and contractual provisions seriously, and wants someone who can help achieve this.

Location

PayJunction takes a Flex First approach to work environments. This means that our team members can choose to work from our Santa Barbara office or remotely from home. We ensure that everyone has the resources and equipment to work where they feel most productive. We trust our teams to make the best decision for their work environment. The Legal Department's mission is to ensure compliance with law and card brand regulations and work to create win-win situations, faster, without compromising on integrity or accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Work with General Counsel and business teams to help ensure the business remains compliant with all Card Brand and Debit Network Rules.
  • Develop policies and procedures according to the most current Card Brand and Debit Network rules and guidelines.
  • Actively participate in the build and development of governance and oversight programs for ensuring compliance with Card Brand rules.
  • Act as the primary contact with our Processor, Sponsor Bank and Card Brands for all card compliance matters.
  • Prepare various reports as required by the Card Brands.
  • Contribute to overall risk strategy with regards to the Card Brand and Debit Network Rules.
  • Develop/maintain strong positive working relationships with business leadership and all team members.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Card Brand and Debit Network Rules, requirements, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Effectively present results and findings from independent assessments and gain buy-in to influence any necessary change.
  • Develop and deliver reporting to General Counsel and executive team, as needed.
  • Respond to internal and external audits, exams and requests for information.
  • Assist in the evaluation of audit and examination findings and implementation of corrective action and needed responses.
  • Research, track, and monitor legislation and legal issues that impact the company's business.
  • Update General Counsel with timely analysis and summaries of new legislation/regulations affecting the business.
  • Assist in implementing changes to contracts to comply with legislation/regulations.
  • Provide support related to litigation and responses to complaints.
  • Renew and maintain company licensing.
  • Draft, file and manage various business entity documents with State agencies.
  • Draft, review, index, organize and file legal contracts, correspondence and other documents.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years industry and professional experience, including:
    • 1+ years experience in managing card brand compliance required
    • 1+ years work as a paralegal preferred
  • Undergraduate degree with paralegal certification a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word (Redlining / Revision Features)
  • Comfortable and willing to use an Apple workstation (MacOS) (required)
  • Comfortable using Google GSuite (GMail, GDocs, GCal, GDrive)
  • Comfortable using DocuSign or other e-sign technology
  • Comfortable using Zoom and Slack for heavy remote communications
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, scanning tools, or other OCR technology

The base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000/year plus benefits.  Actual base salary offered will vary depending on factors including but not limited to: location, education, experience, skills and qualifications.
